The iconic ‘Old Man of Storr’, just a 15 minute drive from Croft Four

The Isle of Skye is a truly magical place.  Famous for its spectacular scenery, dramatic history and diverse wild-life, the Isle of Skye is one of the best known of the Scottish islands.

The impressive Quiraing forms part of the Trotternish Ridge - a short drive from Croft Four. And you might spot some Highland cows at Ellishadder!

Skye boasts many majestic and geological features, such as the Old Man of Storr, The Quiraing, the Cuillin and other unique natural attractions including Kilt Rock and The Fairy Pools.

A stunning sunrise over the Quiraing - if it wasn’t for the mist you’d be able to see Croft Four!

Wildlife enthusiasts have the opportunity of spotting golden eagles, sea eagles, red deer, otters, seals, whales and dolphins, and there are plenty of tour operators to help you spot the more elusive wildlife.

Kilt Rock - a few minutes walk from the cottage. You’ll never be far away from these tough sheep whilst you’re here!

For rainy days there are also historical and cultural activities to experience; such as museums, castles and distilleries such as Talisker and Torabhaig where you can taste single malt whisky produced on the island.  You can satisfy your appetite in the fabulous restaurants, cafes and tea rooms, or browse locally produced artworks, crafts and other products in the many shops and galleries which are dotted all over the island.

Neist Point - Skye has some breath-taking coastlines.

Skye also has much to offer in the way of outdoor pursuits including walking, climbing, mountain-biking, kayaking, pony trekking, boat trips and fishing/angling. Or, you may prefer to simply enjoy the stunning unspoilt beaches and rugged coastlines which Skye offers.

Portree, the island’s charming capital which is about 15 miles from Croft Four, boasts a picturesque harbour with colourful houses, along with a good range of shops, hotels, pubs and great places to eat.
